These
diagrams illustrate seven of the constructs we
have expressed in rods of Xenopus laevis retinas.
All of them use the Xenopus opsin promoter (XOP)
provided by Dr. Barry Knox at SUNY Syracuse. The
shifted "enhanced" green fluorescent
protein (GFP) is either expressed alone, within
the opsin sequence which terminates with or without
the opsin C-terminal sequence (CT). The final
construct expresses rab8. We have used three forms
of this gene: rab8 wild type, rab8 with the 22:N
(constituitively off) or the 67L (constituitively
on) mutations provided by our collaborator, Dr.
Johan Peranen, University of Helsinki, Finland.
